Parents & Guardians,
We have one semester left of this school year…how time flies. It has been a very busy but great school year so far. The teachers and staff at South View have been working hard to support and help your child be successful at school and for their future. We appreciate working with you and your child to give our students to allow your child the best future.
This year we have incorporated ideas and strategies from our PBIS (Positive Behavior Initiatives Supports) team to model the appropriate behaviors in school, on the playground and the bus that are children are expected to do at school. We want our students to come to school knowing that we care about them and want to help them strive to be their best. We have continued with the new assessment for our 3rd through 5th grade students which is NWEA (Northwest Evaluation Association). We have completed our middle of the year assessment. This assessment is given at the beginning of the year, middle of the year and the end of the year. This allows us to identify areas that our students are doing well in and the skills we need to re-teach to help our students master the skill. The NWEA took the place of Acuity that our 3rd through 5th grade students have taken in the past. Our kindergarten through 2nd grade students will still be using Mclass which has reading and math assessments for our students with the same expectation as the NWEA to help us navigate and give our students the best possible instruction to help them move forward to the students’ end of the year goals.
South View has excellent staff who care for our children and are always working hard each and every day for our students. Teachers, staff, families and the community must work together to help our students have the best opportunity for a successful future. Thank you to all of our South View families for your continued support.
